Public & Educational Projects

Israeli Thicket in Ramat Gan National Park

The emphasis in this forest is to rehabilitate approx. 1.4 acres in a profound manner; what was once a neglected plot now becomes biologically diverse Israeli woods. This forest fills us with special pride because we’ve utilized practices not usually considered in large-scale public projects. For example, improvement of the soil, use of mulch, significant reduction of the pesticide quantities, insertion of a huge amount of bulbs and geophytes into the land, etc.

We thank the park management, which took the path to rehabilitation of the land and restoration of the rich nature there once was, together with us. And many more to come!

Brener Food Forest - Kiryat Ono

First established as a community garden about 13 years ago, a project initiated independently by the residents.    After discovering the concept of food forests, they approached us with the request to lead the process of turning the community garden plot into a food forest. The process included shared community landscaping of the forest, shared planting, and a training process for the activists to support them with everything related to the forest maintenance. Today, the food forest serves as an open-air community center, hosts groups of residents, students and holds many events throughout the year.  Due to the project success, the municipality converted a significant part of the adjacent park into a food forest, effectively multiplying (!) the community food forest area by two.

Ashdod Food Forest

A community food forest created in 2019 in collaboration with the Ashdod Municipality, Green Network, and Adama Agan Company. The executive company is HaShvil HaYarok.

ReForest Company manages the project’s landscaping, creating and community development processes. The forest is young, and the community, social and educational activities are coming together. The forest is connected to schools, educational frameworks, and the community in the adjacent quarter and city.

Petah Tikva Food Forest

An area that combines a food forest and a vegetable garden, the fruit of the labor of many residents but first and foremost one leader, who dreamt of creating a green communal space.

She approached the municipality in order to receive land for the project, and contacted us once she was approved. We started off with the landscaping, which included a shared process with the public, so it provides the most beneficial response to the needs and wants of the community. We were happy to accompany the actual implementation process of the forest and vegetable garden, as well as lead the community tree planting ceremony.

Today, there are five vegetable gardens, tens of fruit trees, and a community that regularly comes by to roll up their sleeves and take care of the place.
